Red Asphalt V

Red Asphalt V-- Just out! Brand new for 2006. This latest video is hosted by
a teenager and is primarily intended to influence teen attitudes toward safe
driving, although most adults would surely benefit from viewing it as well. 42,000 people are killed each year in the U.S. as a result of car
crashes. That's equivalent to the loss of two jumbo jets every week.
The video points out that the number one cause of death for teens is car
crashes. There are more than a dozen graphic scenes of dead motorists
consisting of mangled faces and bodies as well as intestines and severed limbs
on the road. It is probably the most graphic of all the Red Asphalt videos and
promises to be the most effective. There are several interviews with the
families and friends of the victims displaying the devastating effect that the
death of their loved one has had on their lives. This video is sure to catch
the attention of the viewer and will hopefully lead to less injuries and
fatalities on the road.
The DVD also includes a Spanish version. Only on the DVD, not the VHS.

Red Asphalt IV
This video came out in 1998. It is less gruesome than the previous ones, yet many find it more touching due to the fact that so many young drivers are injured or lose their lives. Their family and friends are interviewed and it is quite disheartening. For you teens, please remember that, aside from drivers over the age of 65, you have the highest fatality rate of any age group. Contrary to popular belief, you are not made of steel. Be careful on the road. Don't do something foolish that you will regret for the rest of your life. |

Red Asphalt III
Produced in 1989, SUVs were just coming into vogue. The DUI laws were still not nearly as strict as they are today leading to some unfortunate incidents on the highways. One particular scene involves an intoxicated driver who rolled over his SUV on the freeway. Unfortunately, the poor victim had his skull severed in half as the vehicle rolled, leaving half of his brain on the roadway to be picked up by the emergency personnel. Please don't drink and drive.

Red Asphalt II
This video came out in 1979. It seems like everyone back then was driving around a huge 3 ton gas guzzler. Normally the larger the car that you drive the safer you will be in an accident, but many people still did not use their seat belts in those days, even though most cars came equipped with them, and the extremely high speed limits contributed to some absolutely devastating accidents. Try to keep your vehicle as close to the speed limit as possible while going with the flow of traffic.

Red Asphalt I This is the original Red Asphalt from the early 60s. It is very interesting to see all these classic 50 year old cars. Unfortunately, they didn't come equipped with seat belts, much less airbags, so you can image the severity of some of these accident scenes. Did you know that you are 25 times more likely to be killed in an auto accident if you are thrown from your car? Make sure to always use your seat belt. |

Angie

Seventeen-year-old Angie has just died in an alcohol-related traffic crash. She narrates this short film from beyond the grave, retracing her steps to show how she was killed. This film uses drama, special effects, and even a bit of comedy to serve as a warning to teenagers about the dangers of driving under the influence. The film also covers other subjects including excessive speed, safety belt use and peer pressure.

Wireless Phones & Responsible Driving

This most amusing animated video asks and answers some basic questions about when it is ok and when it isn't to use your cell phone while driving. Amazingly, the following statement came from the 1930 Farmer's Almanac: "Some states don't want to permit RADIOS in cars at all. Radios distract the driver and disturb the peace". Of course, radios are in virtually every automobile currently produced, but it is an interesting fact that even today many vehicle accidents occur while someone is trying to change the station or inserting a casette or CD into their radio player.
If radios produce accidents, you can imagine how much more dangerous the use of cell phones is while driving an automobile, especially taking into account the many distractions that we face in today's world. This very funny video will encourage proper use of cell phones, while keeping your audience entertained at the same time.

Signal 30 Part II: Tragedy & Hope

Nearly 50 years after the release of the all time classic highway safety film, Signal 30, we are pleased to make available to you Signal 30 Part II: Tragedy & Hope.
The tragedy is the terrible crashes that take the lives of many and permanently injure others. The hope is in the preventive measures that all of us can take to help avoid such catastrophes.
There's a warning to the audience at the beginning, and for good reason. These images are graphic and gruesome as well as heartbreaking. Families and loved ones separated forever because of tragic automobile crashes. In addition to the highly disturbing images of the dead and dying motorists, safe driving habits such as always buckling your safety belt, observing speed limits, and never drinking and driving are encouraged in an effort to avoid these needless incidents.
Many highly graphic crash scenes are viewed and analyzed. This video is not only difficult to watch, but powerful when digested. It will definitely leave a lasting impression on viewers and will hopefully reduce the number of needless and devastating crashes on our roads.

Road Skillz

This new DVD, specifically aimed at the novice driver, is the answer to drivers' worries about their lack of real-life driving experience. Did you know that a driver of a vehicle makes more decisions in one mile than a 747 captain does flying cross country?
Road Skillz recreates the most common types of accidents and shows you how to react and avoid the accident altogether. It gives the student the critical knowledge needed when faced with a crisis situation.
The video is hosted by top professional drivers from the racing world, who share their driving insight to help make you a safer and accident free driver. It uses MTV style music to maintain the viewer's attention while teaching the skills needed for today's demanding driving environment.

Young drivers: the high risk years

Crash rates for young beginning drivers are much higher than for older drivers. This videotape listens to 16 year-olds tell why they want their driver's licenses and what driving means to them. Parents of teenagers who died in crashes tell how the tragedies happened and how their families have been affected.
The focus is on ways to reduce the crashes by limiting higher risk driving by beginning 16 year-olds. Graduated licensing laws on the books in most states are helping to do this, but parents should introduce their own restrictions — limit the hours teenagers are allowed to drive unsupervised and limit passengers (especially other teens) in the car with a teenage driver. Parents also have to make sure the beginning drivers in their families get plenty of supervision behind the wheel. These measures can save lives while teenagers learn to drive and become more mature.
DVD contains licensing law information for all states.

LOV2XLR8

Thus read the license plate of a 27 year old man driving a Corvette involved in an 80 mph street race with a Lamborghini which resulted in a horrific accident. The driver of the Lamborghini crossed the center line of the road and was involved in a head on collision with a Volvo. The severity of the accident was such that both cars became airborne and a witness described the scene as if car parts were raining from the sky. The driver of the Lamborghini and the innocent driver of the Volvo were both killed at the scene.
Family members of the Volvo driver are interviewed and describe the permanent pain that they will endure and also how difficult it was to tell the Volvo driver's daughter that daddy would never be coming home. Although the driver of the Corvette was not directly involved in the accident or the deaths of the other 2 drivers, he was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in jail as a consequence of street racing which lead to the deaths of the other two individuals.

One Second in Time

This video describes how Edgar, a young man from Oregon, was driving in his Ford Mustang with his girlfriend and her 11 year old sister in the car when he was challenged to a street race by the driver in the next lane. The reving of the other car's engine was just too much of a temptation for Edgar and off they went. Unfortunately this led to an accident which resulted in the death of his girlfriend's 11 year old sister.
Most of us don't leave the house with the intent of becoming involved in a race and we must resist the urge to do so when egged on by another driver. As for Edgar, he was sentenced to 5 years in jail, and more significantly, will have to live with the knowledge that his irresponsible driving led to the death of an innocent 11 year old girl.

Cage the Rage

Amazingly, about 50% of all accidents involve some type of aggressive driving. This is often brought on by road rage. Drivers are frequently running late or frustrated with heavy traffic and it just takes one tailgater or someone cutting in front of them to set them off. Police officers and state troopers provide you with suggestions to help you avoid the common temptation of retaliating and thereby involving you in a road rage incident. Doctors describe the increasing number of patients they are seeing as a result of road rage and a judge informs us of the legal consequences of such an incident including hefty fines, anger management classes and significant jail time.

DMV Written Test
DVD

As a teacher, it is important for your students to pass their DMV written test. Unfortunately, despite your best efforts, studies show that about 40% of all pupils fail their written test the first time. A big reason for this is that most students just don’t want to spend the time going through their state’s over 100 page DMV driver’s manual.
With this DVD, your students will learn the information much more easily because it is presented visually with actual demonstrations for each question as opposed to just reading the questions and trying to memorize the answers.
You can also use the DVD to prepare exams for your students. SOME of the topics covered include:
Defensive Driving
Use of Headlights
Highway & Freeway Driving
License Requirements
Parking
Pedestrians
Right and left turns
Road Weather Conditions
Seat Belts
Signs, Signals & Markings
Right of Way

A drive to the mall should never be a race?but it does require mental alertness, physical coordination, and respect for every other driver on the road. NASCAR Rookie of the Year David Reutimann shares his expertise in all those areas as host of this dynamic, highly informative three-part series. A strong foundation for safety-oriented driving education, Reutimann?s guidance emphasizes that driving can be a fun, positive experience; that it is a privilege, not a right; and that the most important piece of driving equipment is between the ears.

Underscoring the danger of making assumptions when behind the wheel, the program stresses preparing for the worst possible events and circumstances, and illustrates three solid principles of defensive driving: Give Yourself Space, Anticipate, and Know Your Options. Issues concerning drunk driving, tailgating, finding escape routes out of dangerous situations, and proper behavior at the scene of an accident are also covered.
